A Farmingdale electronics company has a new contract to supply a $2 million radar system for the Mexican Navy's border and maritime patrols, the company said.
Telephonics Corp. said there is the potential for the sale of six more such systems to the Secretaria de Marina, Armada de México.
The Telephonics APS-143C(V)3 radar system will be deployed on the Mexican Navy's CN-235 OceanEye aircraft.
The "high-performance maritime surveillance radar… is durable, lightweight, highly reliable" and has "outstanding long-range, small-target detection," the company said in a news release.
Telephonics, a subsidiary of Griffon Corp., is subcontractor on a larger Mexican Navy contract managed by EADS Airbus Military.
