Thirty-three Long Island businesses were named to the “Inc. 5000,” a list of the 5,000 fastest growing private companies in America compiled by the magazine Inc.
The annual list, which ranks the companies by their percent revenue growth in the last three years, was released Thursday.
The top three Long Island companies on the list were Bedgear in Farmingdale, Driven Local in Melville and BabyGanics in Hicksville.
More details on the top three companies (all figures are from Inc.):
- Bedgear, located in Farmingdale, is a maker of hi-tech bedding products such as sheets that regulates body temperature. The company employs 18 people, and had revenue growth of 1,107 percent in the last three years. Their annual revenue is $17 million. Bedgear was ranked No. 339 on Inc.'s list.
- Driven Local is a social search and digital advertising company in Melville. The company employs 28 people, and had revenue growth of 1,072 percent in the last three years. Their annual revenue is $4.8 million. Driven Local was ranked No. 348 on Inc.'s list.
- BabyGanics is a producer of natural and organic products based in Hicksville. The company employs 26 people, and had revenue growth of 594 percent in the last three years. Their annual revenue is $12.3 million. BabyGanics was ranked No. 613 on Inc.'s list.
To be considered by the list, companies must have been founded by March 2008 or earlier and have at least $100,000 in revenue by 2008 and $2 million in revenue by 2011. Companies nominated themselves to Inc. and submitted their own revenue figures.
