Get a website of your own. That was advice John M. Rauh gave today to hoteliers attending the Long Island Hotel & Lodging Association luncheon meeting at the Marriott Islandia. ---
Those who are part of a hotel chain should look beyond the corporate umbrella site and seek also to set up a presence that is locally oriented and search-engine friendly, said Rauh, president of RestaurantByClick.com, an internet marketing firm in Nesconset.
That means loading it up with key search terms, such as “Long Island hotels” and referring to local wedding, special events and get-a-way deals.
Also, don’t leave hotel eateries out of the picture, he said. Consider a separate site to showcase them, including menus, photos of dishes, reviews, a profile of the chef.
