Arrow Electronics makes deal to distribute 'mixed-signal' devices

Melville-based Arrow Electronics Inc. has signed a new agreement to distribute computer chips from a Texas company whose products are used for set-top boxes, televisions, cell phones and touchscreens.

Silicon Laboratories Inc. of Austin, Tex., makes integrated circuits for industrial and commercial products, as well as for consumer goods such as AM and FM radios, GPS navigation devices and MP3 players.

“Silicon Labs’ portfolio of innovative IC [integrated circuit] solutions can help customers reduce power and system cost, while improving performance and adding features to their applications,” Jeff Eastman, an Arrow senior vice president, said in a Monday news release.

Many Silicon Laboratories products are mixed-signal devices — designed to bridge analog and digital signals.

“Mixed-signal technology is at the heart of many electronic system designs, and Silicon Labs’ products represent a strong addition to Arrow’s line card globally,” Eastman said. Arrow will distribute Silicon Labs’ complete product portfolio.
