Arrow Electronics Inc. has bought a European computer products company, extending its marketing and sales reach into Spain and Portugal.

Arrow, of Melville, did not say how much it paid for Diasa Informática, of Madrid, a distributor of computer servers, storage, software and networking products.

Diasa also provides its network of about 3,000 resellers with technical and financial consulting, training, support and installation services.

"Diasa expands the geographic footprint and scale of our ECS [enterprise computing solutions] business in Europe,” Michael Long, Arrow's chief executive, said.

With the purchase, Arrow now has a presence in 26 countries in the European region, he said. "This acquisition complements our existing portfolio of hardware and storage offerings and also broadens our line card with key suppliers in the region."

Diasa has about 140 employees, and had total sales of about $250 million in its most recent fiscal year.
