Artist Setsuo Ito puts Bridgehampton house on market

Some homes are a cut above, but this one is way above. Set on the highest point in the Hamptons, The Way Above Estate on Noyack Path in Bridgehampton, built and owned by artist and architect Setsuo Ito , is now for sale for $30 million.

The 11,000-square-foot mansion is set on 15 private acres, with views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Great Peconic Bay from a 300-foot elevation. The home is not visible from the street; a half-mile-long driveway with two sets of security gates winds past a greenbelt and pine forest to the main house.

The living quarters include a master suite, two family guest suites and four additional guest bedrooms, plus a media room, gallery, gym and caretaker's quarters. The 5,000-square-foot cedar rooftop deck has a pagoda with a 32-foot-high steel pyramid overlooking the pool.

Ito says the home combines "quiet living with large living space with views," and would appeal to buyers seeking "a unique residence with a high-quality lifestyle."

Visitors to the house have included comedian Chevy Chase and actor Roy Scheider . The estate of the late ABC news anchor Peter Jennings is nearby.

Ito's works are celebrated in a new book, "Earthscapture: The Art of Setsuo Ito."
