The Bank of America Charitable Foundation is seeking summer internship applications from high school juniors and seniors who are interested in community service and leadership.
The deadline is Jan. 12.
Five Long Island students will be selected for the eight-week paid internships, which are also offered to five students in each of 43 other regions of the U.S.; and to five students from London, England.
Interns will also travel to Washington, D.C., for a weeklong, all-expenses-paid Bank of America Student Leadership Summit.
"There, they will learn how service creates positive change in communities and how nonprofit, government and corporate collaboration is instrumental in community revitalization," the bank foundation said in a news release.
The program is part of the foundation's Neighborhood Excellence Initiative.
Applications can be submitted online at www.bankofamerica.com/neistudentleaders.
Applicants should include a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or principal.
Interns are selected in each of the 45 communities by a committee made up of leaders from private, public and nonprofit companies and groups, chaired by local Bank of America executives.
