Bollywood Performing Arts, an Indian American theater school in Hicksville, is celebrating its success as an alumnus gets set for his feature film debut.
The actor, Rahul Rai of Old Westbury, stars in the movie “When Harry Tries To Marry”, premiering April 22 in Kew Gardens and Manhattan. (It then heads west for a Los Angeles opening.)
At the London Asian Film Festival in March, Rai won Best New Talent, and the movie scooped up honors for audience choice and best crossover film.
The West Old Country Road school, in Rai’s case, was a stop along the road to stardom in the Bollywood film industry. News of the film hasn’t been covered much in the United States, but the media in his family’s home town -- Mangalore, in Karnataka state -- is enthralled.
Rai is a theater student at Pace University. His father, Dr. Dinker Rai, is a surgeon.
BollyArts celebrates Rai’s achievement on its Facebook page.
BollyArts is a diversified business. It also offers event management, a recording studio, talent management.
