A subsidiary of a major Mexico-based glass bottle manufacturer, based in Huntington Station, is moving – but not far.
Vitro Packaging LLC is moving to Melville, to a building on the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway.
The company offers its VitroSolutions custom design system, in which it provides design and decoration consultation; and packaging and market analysis.
In addition to its custom services Vitro makes and sells hundreds of stock styles and shapes of glass bottles and jars – for wine, beer, instant coffee, hot sauce, olive oil, perfume and pharmaceuticals. (A sample of their work, above left, for Bling H2O.)
For example, its stock catalog offers more than 140 different wine and liquor bottle designs. Vitro is expected to make its move by Aug. 1 to 324 South Service Road, Melville. The building belongs to T. Weiss Realty Inc., Melville-based office developer/owner, and the Vitro lease, along with another recent signing, will bring the new building to almost full occupancy.
Vitro Packaging is a unit of the Mexican glassmaker Vitro S.A. de C.V. Its parent company, with annual sales of more than $1.5 billion, is in Monterrey, Mexico, where it was founded in 1909.
