Business disaster prep seminar Wednesday in Melville

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma, Belfor Property Restoration will host a free disaster preparedness seminar on Wednesday for business owners and administrators.

The seminar will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Hilton Long Island/Huntington, on 598 Broad Hollow Rd. in Melville.

The seminar will focus on how the New York region can prepare for future natural disasters. It will also address the science of hurricanes, flood insurance, claim guidance and ‘lessons learned’ from Superstorm Sandy.

A panel discussion will include Suffolk County executive Steve Bellone; Kieran Bhatia, Ph.D., Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at Princeton University; Barbara Brancaccio, vice president of public affairs at Global Strategy Group; Jon Kaiman, deputy Suffolk County executive for Shared Services; Cathy O’Connor, account executive at Arthur J. Gallagher Insurance; Jacob Parsons, managing director of the Claro Group; and Gary Alexander, marketing Director of Belfor Property Restoration.

Belfor Property Restoration, headquartered in Birmingham, Michigan, is a disaster restoration company serving 29 countries. The company has six offices in New York State, including one in Ronkonkoma. It provides structural damage repair, cleanup to the recovery and restoration of equipment and vital documents.
