Sheryl Buro comptroller and office administrator at The Long Island Contractors' Association, has been appointed to the Suffolk County Industrial & Commercial Incentive Board, which encourages towns and villages to identify commercial and industrial areas eligible for a tax abatement program. She is a Farmingville resident.

Gary Thayer, center, has been appointed to serve on the advisory council on employee welfare and pension benefit plans at the U.S. Department of Labor. He is an associate at the Melville law firm, Archer, Byington, Glennon & Levine and lives in Merrick.

Jim Morgo, right, president of Morgo Private Public Strategies and part-time economic development coordinator for the Town of Brookhaven, has been appointed to the Stony Brook University Council, an advisory body to the institution and the president and senior officers of Stony Brook University. Morgo is a Bayport resident.

Meanwhile, Deborah K. Herman has been named to the board of directors at Long Island Cares, Inc. - The Harry Chapin Food Bank. The Commack resident is founder and president of DKH Communications, a magazine and custom publishing company in Commack.
