Roslyn Muraskin has been appointed to the board of Herstory Writers Workshop in Centereach, a nonprofit group that provides opportunities to bring women's stories to higher literary levels. The Middle Island resident is director of the Long Island Women's Institute at the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville.

James M. Wicks, a partner at the Uniondale law firm of Farrell Fritz, has been appointed to the New York State Judicial Institute on Professionalism in the Law, a commission dedicated to promoting professionalism in the legal community. The board comprises judges, legal practitioners, academics and lay persons. Wicks lives in East Setauket.


Sherry Justus has been appointed chief of interpretation, visitor services and natural resources at the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site in Oyster Bay. Justus competed nationally for the appointment while in her previous position as integrated resource program manager at the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park in Texas. She will reside in on-site housing at Sagamore.


Lee Anne Xippolitos has been appointed dean of the Stony Brook University School of Nursing. Xippolitos has been serving as interim dean since July of 2009. The St. James resident will retain her position as chief nursing officer at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Dr. Nick Gabriel has joined the surgical staff at St. Charles Hospitalin Port Jefferson. The New Hyde Park resident has his own bariatric surgery practice in Smithtown.


S. Joonho Hong has joined Giuffré Law Offices in Floral Park as an associate. Hong most recently was a junior associate at the Manhattan law firm of Joel J. Turney. He lives in Floral Park.


Karen M. Johnson has been hired as executive director at Literacy Nassau, a Freeport agency that helps adult Long Islanders with needs in reading, writing and speaking English. The Rockville Centre resident was executive director at Variety Boys & Girls Clubs of Queens.

Carol Khoury has joined United Spinal Association in Jackson Heights as chief financial officer. United Spinal Association is a national disability rights and veterans service organization devoted to enhancing the lives of people with spinal cord disabilities. The Westbury resident was chief deputy treasurer for Nassau County.


Evan Halperin has been appointed chief financial officer and treasurer of the Greater Long Island Running Club. The Huntington resident has his own accounting firm.


Dean Dobbins has joined Future Tech Enterprise, a Holbrook technology solution provider, as national account manager. The Fresh Meadows resident was most recently business development manager at Mycroft in Manhattan.


Trent Preszler has been promoted to chief executive at Bedell Cellars in Cutchogue. The Manhattan resident was most recently chief operating officer.
