With new lines of glossy paper and other printing media made with fibers from responsibly managed forests, Lake Success-based Canon USA Inc. is now selling products with Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification.

The products include Canon’s coated two-sided papers, cover stock and text.

SFI certified forestry management entails standards such as "protecting water quality, soil, wildlife and unique resources," the not-for-profit group says.

SFI says it has certified more than 180 million acres in North America, making it “the largest single forest standard in the world.” Its certification includes information about how much fiber in a product is from certified forests, certified sourcing or recycled content.

"Canon is pleased to offer media certified under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative standard,” Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager of Canon USA's Imaging Systems Group, said. "Providing customers with SFI certified media affirms our dedication to sourcing fiber in a responsible way.”
