The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Carpenters Union will begin taking applications Tuesday for five carpenter apprenticeships, officials said.
Applications can be obtained at the Carpenters Training Center, 270 Motor Pkwy., Department B, in Hauppauge, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, excluding holidays, until June 29, 2017.
Applications must be picked up and submitted in person. Applicants must bring a valid driver’s license or other state-issued ID card, Social Security card and high school diploma or its equivalent.
Applicants must be 18 or older, have lived on Long Island for at least six months before applying, be physically able to do the work and have reliable transportation. They must take math and drug tests, attend training sessions and join the union.
