Carrier Corp., the air conditioning giant based in Connecticut, has won a $2 million contract for service on a handful of power plants operated by New York State.
The company’s Farmingdale office will perform maintenance and repair on heating, cooling and ventilation systems at the plants, which are located in Holtsville, Brentwood and in New York City.
The five-year contract was awarded competitively, according to Gil Quiniones, chief executive of the state Power Authority, which operates the plants. The contract begins on Oct. 1.
State Sen. Charles Fuschillo (R-Merrick), a member of his chamber’s energy and telecommunication committee, praised the authority “for supporting local businesses and making these investments in our local economy.”
The plants are fueled with natural gas.
