They may sound like characters in a 1950s children’s reader, but actually they’re among the top first names for people who are running the world’s organizations.

Yes, they are on LinkedIn’s just announced list of the top first names for chief executives around the world. Others include, for men: Jack, Bruce, Fred, Bill, Ron, Christian, Alexander and Don. And for women: Debra, Cynthia, Carolyn, Pamela, Ann, Cheryl, Linda and Janet.

This is based on LinkedIn’s searching and analyzing profiles of its more than 100 million users. Other first-name lists were created, too, for professionals in human resources, law enforcement, engineering, athletics, sales, restaurants and food services.

Still, John Caracciolo, above left, chief executive for JVC Broadcasting Co., Ronkonkoma, takes exception to the  list. “I protest,” he said. “I know four CEOs [on Long Island] and they’re all named John.” Still, he said, “maybe we do things differently on Long Island.”
