High-fashion retailer Chanel on Thursday will open its first Chanel Fragrance & Beauté store on Long Island at Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City.
The new, 1,100-square-foot boutique, set to open at 9 a.m., is on the upper level of the mall’s Neiman Marcus wing. The store will sell Chanel’s makeup, skin-care and fragrance products.
A spokeswoman for the privately owned French company declined to disclose how many employees will work at the store.
The boutique also will feature a Chanel Sunglasses Salon, the second of its kind in the United States. Beauty experts will be available to provide fragrance, color and skin-care consultations. Customers will also be able to test featured products.
The boutique’s installations will display the Chanel Beauty Talks film series, in which clients learn about the creations of Lucia Pica, Chanel’s global creative designer for makeup and color, while watching how she applies the products on celebrities including Keira Knightley and Kristen Stewart.
There are two other Chanel Fragrance & Beauté stores, in Las Vegas and Aventura, Florida.
Chanel’s history dates back more than 100 years. In the 1920s, Mademoiselle Gabrielle Chanel unveiled her first fragrance, the iconic classic Chanel N°5, followed by the brand’s makeup collection and line of skin-care products.
