The Hauppauge-based chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society says it’s looking for a few more businesses to sponsor an April fundraising race, the Pineapple Classic 5K, to be held on the Old Westbury campus of the New York Institute of Technology.

Already lined up as sponsors are Alcott HR Group, of Farmingdale; Cook, Hall & Hyde Inc., with offices in Melville and East Hampton; and Advantage Title, in Huntington, the charity said in a Friday notice.

All proceeds go to the charity, which plans an after-race luau with a beer garden, for those of legal drinking age, and entertainment.

“This is not your ordinary 5K. It’s a fun, Hawaiian-themed, 5K-obstacle-course run,” the charity said. “Participants, who are encouraged to dress in a Hawaiian-themed outfit, will be climbing, crawling, bouncing and bending to raise funds for blood cancer research.”

Participants must be 8 or older, and should register in single-gender or co-ed teams of two, three or four.

Register and learn more about the Pineapple Classic 5K online.
