Prices in the greater New York area, as measured by the Consumer Price Index, ticked up 1.2 percent in September compared to a year ago, but remained unchanged from August.
As typical for the time of year, prices for apparel went up 4.5 percent from the previous month.
Residential rent rose 2.8 percent and medical care costs increased by 2.5 percent last month compared to a year ago.
