Expanding its repertoire of music-related products, Farmingdale guitar string maker D'Addario & Co. Inc. is buying a Texas drumstick company.

It will buy Pro-Mark Corp., of Houston,  which it says has been in business for more than 50 years, and makes high-quality drumsticks, brushes, mallets and other percussion accessories.

"Pro-Mark's brand would be a natural complement and extension to D'Addario's line of products," Jim D'Addario, chief executive shown above at the Farmingdale plant, said in a Sunday news release. He did not disclose financial terms for the sale, which  he hopes to complete  by the end of the month.

In addition to guitar strings, D'Addario also makes strings for violins and other instruments; and designs and makes products under the brand names Evans Drumheads, Planet Waves, Rico, HQ Percussion and PureSound Percussion. The company also runs and It sells its products in about 120 countries.
