Dick’s Sporting Goods will open the first Field & Stream store on Long Island next month at the Melville Mall.
Field & Stream, an outdoor and hunting equipment store owned by Dick’s Sporting Goods, is scheduled to open in September, according to Dick’s Sporting Goods.
The store will occupy a 50,000-square-foot space at the Melville Mall, on Route 110 just north of the Northern State Parkway, according to the website of the mall’s landlord, Federal Realty Investment Trust.
Field & Stream is hiring to fill about 90 full-time and part-time positions for the new store, on 870 Walt Whitman Rd. Dick’s Sporting Goods is also hiring for its existing store at the mall, which is undergoing remodeling. That store, which will also be staffed with about 90 people, is open during the remodeling.
Field & Stream will join other retailers arriving at the Melville Mall such as Macy’s Backstage, which opened last year, and Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace, expected to open by summer 2017 in a space formerly occupied by a Waldbaum’s supermarket.
Pittsburgh-based Dick’s Sporting Goods, founded in 1948, operates more than 645 locations in the United States. It also owns and operates Golf Galaxy, Field & Stream, True Runner and Chelsea Collective stores. Field & Stream is not associated with Field & Stream Magazine.
