Electricians’ union to hire 31 apprentices

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Electrical Industry of Nassau and Suffolk Counties will begin taking applications Wednesday for 31 apprenticeships, officials said.

Applications can be picked up at the committee’s office, at 370 Motor Pkwy. in Hauppauge, 10 to noon on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, excluding legal holidays, through Sept. 20. They must be submitted by noon on Sept. 20.

The committee has 28 electrician, one residential electrician and two electrical maintenance technician apprenticeships.

Applicants must be 18 or older; live on Long Island; provide proof of high school graduation or a GED/TASC; be physically able to do the work; pass a drug test, physical and aptitude exams; have reliable transportation and a driver’s license; and participate in an interview.
