Exec leaves Kimco Realty

New Hyde Park-based Kimco Realty Corp.’s chief operating officer resigned Wednesday to take the top job at another real estate company.

The Kimco executive, David Lukes, will become chief executive officer of Mall Properties Inc. in Manhattan.

In his place Kimco has appointed Michael V. Pappagallo as chief operating officer, in addition to his role as chief financial officer.

Milton Cooper continues to serve as executive chairman and David B. Henry as president and chief executive of Kimco.

“We wish David well and look forward to working together in the future,” Henry said.

“One of Kimco’s many strengths is the depth of our management team and our bench strength. Mike is excited about this new role and is looking forward to his increased involvement with the operations teams.”

The company told the Securities and Exchange Commission that the changes won’t affect 2010 net income or funds from operations per share.

Kimco’s five regional operating presidents, Robert Nadler, central region; Wilbur Simmons, northeast and mid-Atlantic regions; Paul Puma, southeast region, Florida and Puerto Rico; John Visconsi, southwest region; and Conor Flynn, northwest region; will report directly to Pappagalo.

Nadler will assume responsibility for overseeing leasing and tenant relations in addition to his role as president of the central region for Kimco, the company said.
