An ambitious plan to revitalize downtown Farmingdale could get a boost from Nassau County Thursday night.
The county’s industrial development agency is expected to consider an application for tax breaks from the developers of Bartone Plaza. The $30-million project, near the Farmingdale Long Island Rail Road station, would consist of 115 apartments and 13,200 square feet of retail stores.
Farmingdale developer Anthony Bartone has teamed with TDI, a Texas development company, to construct Bartone Plaza and an adjacent building that is similar.
The developers are seeking breaks from the IDA on property taxes, sales taxes and the mortgage recording tax for Bartone Plaza, which will replace a dilapidated warehouse.
The apartments and retail stores conform to Farmingdale’s master plan and have been approved by village leaders.
