A half-day panel on filing patents and new changes to intellectual property law will take place in early February.
The event, called “First-To-File: Is Your Company Ready for the Upcoming Changes to the Patent Laws?,” will feature talks from intellectual property lawyers and representatives from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, a workshop panel and networking.
The panels will focus on the America Invests Act, which goes into effect this March, and how the law has changed the patent process. Understanding the complex intellectual property laws and filing patents on time is an important step for technology start-ups to protect their business, and the panel will be important for fledgling companies, scientists and budding entrepreneurs.
The event is sponsored by Accelerate Long Island, the Long Island Forum for Technology and the Long Island Software and Technology Network, in partnership with New York Intellectual Property Law Association.
The panel will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 at The Morrelly Homeland Security Center in Bethpage. Those interested in attending can register at www.nyipla.org.
