Federal student loan interest rates will not be going up

YONKERS - Congress passed a bill on Friday to maintain interest rates at 3.4% for all new government-backed student loans for one year.

If congress had not acted, rates could have doubled beginning yesterday for more than seven million students nationwide.

President Obama has signed the freeze into law.

Jordan Goodman was in the studio today to discuss student loan interest rates.
