Some taxpayers will be eligible for a free chair massage at two local accounting firms on what can be the most stressful day of the year: April 15.

It's part of a promotion by Massage Envy Spas, a Scottsdale, Arizona-based franchise chain with more than 1,000 locations nationally, according to its website.

On Long Island, the massages will be offered at two accountants' offices: ZBS Group LLP in Plainview and Freeport Tax Service in Bellmore. Massage Envy locations nearby will provide licensed professional masseuses to the tax offices.

The promotion notes that April is National Stress Awareness Month, sponsored by The Health Resource Network, a nonprofit health education organization. The campaign's website calls it "a national, cooperative effort to inform people about the dangers of stress, successful coping strategies and harmful misconceptions about stress that are prevalent in our society."

Massage Envy first tried the promotion last year at some H&R Block offices in the Philadelphia area. It went well, said public relations executive Elise Brown, of LevLane Advertising, in Philadelphia, who lined up the tax preparation companies.

Massage Envy decided to do it again this year at five Philadelphia H&R Blocks and also to expand to the Washington, D.C., region, and Long Island.

At ZBS, massages will be given from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, and at Freeport from 1 to 3 p.m."It basically exposes us to the local market," said ZBS' managing partner, Dov Zaidman. "We do a lot of our work nationally and internationally." The company has three CPAs working on tax returns at this time of year.

At Freeport, president Warren Gruberger said, "I think our clients, even the ones not here, will get a kick out of it. And clients who have not met us before will now become aware of us.", for customers only.
