Group of women business owners to give out 10 awards at gala

Tickets are still available for the annual gala of the National Association of Women Business Owners – Long Island, which is set for Wednesday with the theme “Breaking the Glass Ceiling: A salute to the new decade of LI women in business.”
The awards and their recipients are:
Trail Blazer Award: Shila Shah-Gavnoudias, at left, commissioner Department of Public Works, Nassau County
Woman of Achievement Award: Marlene McDonnell, business development director, Long Island Business News
Business Woman of the Year Award: Anne D. Shybunko-Moore, president,GSE Dynamics
Woman of Excellence in Education Award: Dr. Lorraine Greenwald, dean - School of Business, Farmingdale State College
Woman of Excellence in Restaurant Award: Lillian Dent, co-owner,LLDent Restaurant
Woman of Excellence in Construction Award: Donna Gathard, president, All Service Electric, Inc.
Financial Institution of the Year Award: State Bank of Long Island
Corporation of The Year Award: Accenture (Acceptance by Ken Dircks, partner)
Business Advocate of the Year Award: Roger Kahn, owner, Champion Office Suites
Sharon Newman Award: Mara N. Harvey, Esq., Lamb & Barnosky, LLP
Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano is scheduled to be the keynote speaker.
Tickets for the event, at Westbury Manor, cost $125 (or $1,000 for a table of ten). Cocktails start at 6 p.m. and the dinner and program begin at 7.
