Briggs & Riley Travelware has begun selling two of its luggage collections in Bloomingdale's locations and will begin selling them on the department store's Web site early next year, the company said.
The Hauppauge-based company, which makes luggage and business cases, is debuting its Baseline and Transcend lines in a branded shop within Bloomingdale's San Francisco location and its flagship store at 59th Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan, as well as at Bloomingdale's online site.
About 10 other Bloomingdale's stores, including the one at Roosevelt Field, will start to carry Briggs & Riley in the first quarter of 2010, the company said.
This marks the first time Briggs & Riley Travelware, which has long sold its collections through specialty retailers, has expanded distribution into a department store, the company said.
"This partnership will enable our customers across the U.S. to easily find Briggs & Riley products with expert help so that they can identify the right product that meets their travel needs," said Richard Krulik, chief executive of Briggs & Riley.
"Bloomingdale's is well suited as a partner, given our like demographic, who values quality and smart design," he added.
