Henry Schein wants you to like your dentist.
The Melville-based distributor of medical, veterinarian and dental products Monday announced a partnership with the social media marketing company Likeable for an application allowing dentists to promote themselves on Facebook.
The initiative, Likeable Dentists, helps practitioners keep their Facebook pages fresh by automatically changing their photos, posting articles and updating their status with tips about brushing, flossing and the like. The goal is to help dentists develop a following among patients, who in turn will recommend them to their online friends.
“They are hoping that by fostering a community through Facebook and social media, dentists are going to get more and more patients through the door,” said Michele Weisman, marketing director for Likeable, based in Manhattan.
