David Henry, chief executive of Kimco Realty Corp., has been elected chairman of a major trade group, the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Kimco, a nationwide owner of neighborhood and community shopping centers, is based in New Hyde Park.
The choice was made Monday by the ICSC trustee board during the group's annual meeting, in Las Vegas. Henry's one-year term started right away.
Henry "brings three decades of capital markets industry experience to the post," the group said in a news release.
"Mr. Henry has contributed to the association's educational programs, including the University of Shopping Centers and the debt-workout seminars, and also serves on the board of the ICSC Foundation," the group said.
Before joining Kimco about 10 years ago, Henry had been chief investment officer at GE Capital Real Estate, where he worked for 23 years.
