Two Long Island workplaces, a bank branch and a logistics service, filed formal notices this week telling state labor officials they plan to lay off workers.
UTI Inc., a logistics service based at 48 South Service Rd., Suite 200, in Melville, will lay off 20 workers, the company said. The layoff date is Sept. 30, and the reason given is "plant closing."
And a Capital One bank branch in Mattituck, at 9025 Main Rd., told the state that it would lay off six workers.
The companies did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The notices were made public by the state Department of Labor's office of dislocated worker programs.
