The Long Island Builders Institute will hold a home improvement and remodeling trade show in Melville on Thursday.

The trade association’s 27th annual expo will take place at the Huntington Hilton, 598 Broadhollow Rd., from 3 to 8 p.m. It will include more than 100 booths and displays of home building and remodeling products and services available to builders, remodelers and current and future homeowners.

George Oliphant of NBC’s home renovation show “George to the Rescue” will sign autographs starting at 3 p.m.

In addition, members of the trade association have built custom-made pet playhouses to be given away to municipal animal shelters. A group of young people will judge the playhouses at 6:30 p.m., and at 7 p.m., the trade association will hand over the playhouse “deeds” to animal shelter administrators and local and county officials including Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.

The Long Island Builders Institute includes more than 520 members. For more information, call Lois Fricke at (516) 383-0427 or (631) 626-1425.
