Long Island Business News named a new publisher and editor, two posts that had been vacant since October, the paper's owner The Dolan Co. announced Wednesday in a news article on the publication's website.
Scott Schoen, the audience development manager for The Dolan Co. was named publisher, and senior reporter Gregory Zeller was named editor for the 7,500-circulation business weekly.
Schoen and Zeller's appointment comes two months after John Kominicki, who served as both editor and publisher, left his post to join a Bohemia marketing company. Kominicki had been at the helm of the 60 year old publication since 1998.
Schoen, whose background is in newspaper sales, previously served as director of circulation marketing at LIBN from 2007 to 2011. Before to that, he held positions in circulation and advertising at Newsday.
Zeller, who joined LIBN in January, has 23 years of experience as a journalist and has spent the last 12 years covering Long Island.
“I’m so excited by this opportunity,” Zeller said in the paper's news article. “A lot of important people rely on the information provided by LIBN. As we transition deeper into the digital age it’s both a privilege and an immense challenge to educate and entertain that loyal audience.”
