Anne Shybunko-Moore, president of GSE Dynamics of Hauppauge, is scheduled to be on Capitol Hill tonight, a guest of Rep. Steve Israel (D-Dix Hills), for President Barack Obama's speech on job creation to a joint session of Congress.
Besides heading the defense-contracting company, Shybunko-Moore is co-chair of the manufacturing committee of the Hauppauge Industrial Association and co-chair of Israel's manufacturing task force.
She is hoping the president's jobs proposals will include incentives for small manufacturers.
"I would hope to hear that there will be continued focus on programs to allow small business to grow and invest in new equipment to keep up with advanced manufacturing skills," she said.
Also on her wish list: "There needs to be continued support for local community colleges and other educational institutions to offer classes and training to fill the skill gaps for jobs, and engage young people to enter into the field," she said. "We also need to look at the issues that can improve our ability to be more competitive in a global market."
