Long Island hires and promotions: Dr. Kimon Bekelis, Good Samaritan Hospital brain center

HEALTH CARE

Dr. Kimon Bekelis of East Islip has been named director of the Stroke & Brain Aneurysm Center of Excellence at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and co-director of its neuro intensive care unit. He was a chief resident at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire and received a fellowship in neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia.

Dr. Michael Ziegelbaum of Jericho, a physician at Advanced Urology Centers of New York in Lake Success, has been named president of Long Island Jewish Medical Center’s medical staff in New Hyde Park.

BOARDS

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Long Island Chapter in Hauppauge has elected two members to its board of trustees.

Anne Markowitz Recht of Plainview is CEO of AMR Care Group in Jericho.

Jan Gunther of Dix Hills is vice president of Lantern Wealth Advisors in Melville.

Jeff Kuhr of Dix Hills, a Home Depot service manager for central Long Island, has been appointed to the board of directors of Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk in Middle Island.
