The consulting engineers firm of Lockwood, Kessler & Bartlett Inc. in Syosset has announced five new hires.

John Purga of Ronkonkoma has been hired as a senior engineer. He was a senior engineer at Gibbons, Esposito and Boyce Engineers in Uniondale.

Sylvia Cordero-Skidmore of Levittown has returned to the company as a landscape architect. She held the same position at David R. Lamb in Oyster Bay.

Sam Zaid of Hicksville has been hired as an assistant engineer. He held an electrical engineer position at Packages Limited in Lahore, Pakistan.

Gene Gaye of Greenlawn has been hired as a senior engineer. He was the regional structures engineer at the New York State Department of Transportation in Hauppauge.

Rex Chen of Brooklyn has been hired as an engineer. He was an environmental engineer with Roux Associates in Islandia.
