EDUCATION

Raj Devasagayam of Glen Cove has been hired as dean of the school of business at SUNY Old Westbury and professor of marketing. He was chair of the marketing department at Siena College in Albany.

John Sparacio of Bayport has been has been named director of health, physical education and athletics in the Islip School District. He was athletic director for the North Babylon School District.

GOVERNMENT

Marisel Trespalacios of Brooklyn Heights has been hired as an international trade specialist at U.S. Commercial Service Long Island, part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, in Old Westbury. She had the same role at the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C.

HORSE RACING

Alexa Ravit of Bellmore, a summer intern at The Jockey Club in Manhattan, which maintains a breed registry for thoroughbreds, has been hired as a communications coordinator.

LAW

Marie Elizabeth Villefranche of Merrick has been hired as an associate at Karol & Sosnik in Uniondale. She was an intern for Surrogate Robert J. Gigante at Richmond County Surrogate’s Court on Staten Island and a 2015 New York Bar Foundation Trust and Estate Law Section Fellowship recipient.
