As part of its program to foster "green building" practices, Leviton Manufacturing Corp., an electrical device maker, has created a new meter to accurately measure power use in buildings.
The Melville company has its hand in a variety of electrical products, from routine switches and wallplates to the portable battery chargers for Ford Focus electric cars.
Its most recently announced product, the Series 3000 meter, features "a variety of enhanced measurement functionality, greater communications capabilities and new indicators to ensure proper installation and accurate data collection," Leviton says.
The meters measure kilowatt hours, "demand, instantaneous power, volts, amps, watts" and other data.
"Pairing our worldwide distribution and sales channels with quality lighting and metering devices, Leviton is the industry leader in our ability to serve as a single source for integrating complete energy saving solutions," Richard Westfall, a company vice president, says.
