Energy Kitchen

Energy Kitchen, a chain of quick-serve, health-conscious restaurants that is looking at coming to Long Island, has turned up in a trade publication.

It’s looking for franchisees willing to go into business selling Acai Berry Blast smoothies, Thai chicken wraps and bison burgers.

Retail Traffic magazine talked to Randy Schechter, a co-founder of the chain, which wants to add another 55 restaurants to its current ten locations.

"In Long Island, we are looking at places like Syosset. Real Main and Main type locations," Schechter said in the Thursday interview.

Energy Kitchen has nine restaurants  in Manhattan and one in Hoboken, N.J. Four are company-owned, and six are franchises.

On its website, Energy Kitchen says its meals are mostly under 500 calories and made with healthy ingredients.

"The best way to stay fit is with healthy meals and monitoring your caloric intake. The weight is over with tasty high-protein, high-fiber meals that you can enjoy guilt-free without the typical carb-phobic starvation techniques. (No offense, Dr. Fatkins.)"

The company is looking to open 55 stores in Boca Raton, Washington, D.C., Boston, White Plains, Maryland and elsewhere.

"We are looking for major markets, with major foot traffic and upscale demographics."
