More workers using vacation time

Though close to half of 627 workers polled said they’re leaving vacation time on the table this year, that’s an improvement over last year when two-thirds of those polled said the same.

This may be an indication that more people are comfortable to be away from their jobs, as the economy, in fits and starts, shows some signs of reviving, said Bill Heather, left, senior vice president in the Melville office of Right Management, which conducted the research.

Still, he said, don’t look for a rush in the very near future for more people to put in for vacation time and check out for some R&R. He said he’s still seeing plenty of companies with reduced staffs where those who are left continue lifting those heavier loads.
