National Response Corp., a Great River provider of oil spillage and other environmental cleanup services, has acquired ENPRO Services Inc., a Newburyport, Massachusetts, company employing more than 250 people, the companies announced.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. NRC is owned by the Manhattan private equity firm J.F. Lehman & Co.

ENPRO provides environmental and emergency response services to the energy, transportation and industrial sectors and has nine offices and two waste treatment storage and disposal facilities in the Northeast.

“This acquisition greatly enhances our U.S. footprint,” said NRC CEO Paul Taveira. “This strategic acquisition expands our geographic reach and better enables us to service our national and international client base.”

In recent years, NRC also has acquired Op-Tech Environmental Services, Sureclean Limited, Emerald Alaska, and Specialized Response Solutions, which Taveira said provides the scale to handle projects “from industrial to environmental, on land or at sea.”

ENPRO chief operating officer David Cowie said, NRC’s global footprint will widen the company’s market opportunities.

NRC, founded in 1992, has more than 1,200 employees in 16 countries, including 52 at its Great River headquarters.
