Northwell Health on Wednesday said it has named Dr. Gerard X. Brogan Jr. as senior vice president and chief revenue officer.
Brogan had been executive director of Northwell's Huntington Hospital..
In his new role, Brogan will manage the reporting and coding of illnesses and mortality risks, and patient access capabilities. He will also continue to serve as professor of emergency medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
“As head of Huntington Hospital for the past 3½ years, Gerry has been instrumental in using his analytical skills to improve clinical quality, operational efficiency and financial performance — a skill that will serve him well in his new position,” Michael J. Dowling, president and chief executive officer at Northwell Health, said in a statement.
Northwell expects to name a new director at Huntington Hospital by the end of the month, a Northwell spokeswoman said.
Brogan spearheaded the development of Huntington Hospital’s $53 million, 28,000-square-foot emergency department that opened in January 2017, Northwell said.
Brogan has been with Northwell for 20 years.
Before his 2015 appointment to head Huntington Hospital, he was medical director of Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital after previously serving as vice president of emergency services at Plainview, Syosset, LIJ Forest Hills, LIJ Valley Stream and Southside hospitals.
New Hyde Park-based Northwell is the largest private employer in New York, with about 66,000 employees.
