New York State’s annual business event for minority- and women-owned business enterprises will be held in October in Albany.
The seventh annual statewide MWBE Forum will take place Oct. 4 and 5 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center. The forum assists small businesses with navigating the state’s contract opportunities, including transportation, construction and information technology, as well as financial and professional services.
This year’s theme for the event is Engage-Empower-Elevate. Attendees will have access to workshops, presentations, decision makers and networking opportunities.
In 2014, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo set a goal to provide 30 percent of state contract dollars to minority- and women-owned enterprises. The MWBE program is designed to increase economic opportunity, boost job creation, and fuel innovation.
The early registration fee is $95 for MWBE small businesses and $175 for nonprofits. The early registration deadline is Sept. 22. Then until Oct. 2, the fee for small business will be $115 and $185 for nonprofits. Online registration will close on Oct. 2 at midnight.
On-site registration is $125 for small business and $195 for nonprofits.
