Park Electrochemical picks former executive to be director

A former executive at Melville-based Park Electrochemical Corp. has returned to the company as a director.

Park, a composite materials manufacturer, on Wednesday said Emily J. Groehl has been elected to the board of directors, effective immediately.

Groehl had retired in 2005 as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Park, after working there 20 years.

Before joining Park in 1995 Groehl had been national sales manager of Polyclad Laminates Inc. from 1980 to 1985, after beginning her career in the printed circuit materials industry in 1969 with Atlantic Laminates, and continuing with Oak Industries, which acquired Atlantic Laminates, until 1980, Park said in a news release.

Brian Shore, Park’s president and chief executive, said in a prepared statement, “I am very, very pleased that Emily has joined the Park Board of Directors.”

Park, a maker of composite materials for aircraft and electronic systems, has factories in Singapore, China, France, Connecticut, Kansas, Arizona, California and Washington.
