Pizza Hut has decided to hold the topping question it had challenged participants in the second presidential debate, being held at Hofstra University Tuesday night, to ask in order to win “free pizza for life.”
The company said it was moving the contest online because of customer interest, according to the AP. Now, anybody that enters an email address online at Pizza Hut's website will be eligible to win $15,600 — the equivalent of one pizza per week for 30 years.
The national fast food chain announced last week it would offer “free pizza for life” to an official audience member at the Hofstra presidential debate if the individual asked President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney about their pizza topping preferences by inquiring “pepperoni or sausage?”
The marketing scheme was mocked by several news outlets and blogs for being an embarrassment to the democratic process.
