Thousands of Long Islanders whose homes were flooded by superstorm Sandy are now working to clean up and rebuild.

At the same time, government and business officials are considering the lessons Sandy, Irene and other storms can teach us about land use and development.

What do you think? Should federal taxes go to subsidize the cost of flood insurance, to make coastal areas affordable for lower- and middle-income families?
