Nearpod Announces the Launch of Virtual Field Trips

Inspire your students to explore thousands of destinations around the world using the power of Virtual Reality right from your classroom

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 27, 2015

Nearpod, an award-winning education technology company that develops synchronized digital learning and interactive teaching content across mobile devices, today announced the launch of Virtual Field Trips in partnership with 360cities. Teachers are now able to immerse their students in real-world experiences by virtually exploring anywhere in the world from their classroom, on any device. The only requirements are a Nearpod account, an internet connection and any set of web connected devices (iOS, Android, PC, Mac or Chromebook). No special kits or VR cardboards are needed.
Students will be inspired as they are empowered to think on a global scale by visiting places like national monuments, historic landmarks, neighboring planets, wonders of the world, deep sea expeditions and so much more.

"We are thrilled to partner with Nearpod to provide teachers the ability to search our database of hundreds of thousands of high quality panoramic images from directly within the Nearpod app.” said Steve Hercher, Commercial Director, 360Cities. “Nearpod provides teachers a better way to engage students, and with the launch of Virtual Field Trips, teachers and students now have the ability to travel virtually to thousands of destinations around the world."

Nearpod currently has ten ready-to-teach Virtual Field Trip lessons available for free in their content store. All lessons are based on an academic topic such as Ancient Egypt or argumentative writing, and include formative assessments administered through real-time response systems such as polls, quizzes, open-ended questions and more.

“We are very excited about this partnership with 360Cities. The beauty of this feature is that it works on any device on any platform. No other hardware or special viewing kits are required!” said Guido Kovalskys, CEO from Nearpod. “With one click, teachers can easily embed a Virtual Field Trip in their lesson plan and take students instantly to any place across the globe. We believe in the power of Virtual Reality as a way to dramatically improve the educational experience of millions of students and we plan to add many other VR features and content in the future.”
