NFI Recognized as Leader in Sustainability

Leading third party logistics provider, NFI, received the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo Fleet Award for Shippers & Carriers.

Cherry Hill, N.J. (PRWEB) May 05, 2016

Leading third party logistics provider, NFI, received the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo Fleet Award for Shippers & Carriers. The award, presented during the ACT Expo Fleet Awards on May 4, 2016, recognizes a forward-thinking, clean transportation collaboration between two organizations. The fleet awards are the ultimate recognition of fleet operators who show true leadership in sustainability in their transportation operations.

Since 2013, NFI has partnered with a large home improvement retailer to implement natural gas truck fleets across the country, their first located in Texas. The pair has also advocated for natural gas service stations, allowing for expansion of the natural gas fleet locations.

“NFI is proud to serve as an industry leader in sustainability,” said Bill Bliem, NFI Senior Vice President of Fleet Services. “The Shipper and Carrier award is a testament to the partnership NFI has with our customer, and the collaborative efforts we’ve made to drive towards operations that reduce emissions and improve our environmental impact.”

NFI continues to propel its customers’ sustainability efforts forward, looking for opportunities of natural gas implementation, integrating new technology to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, and outfitting warehousing with solar panels. Trucks across its 2,300+ dedicated fleet utilize AirTabs, trailer skirts, and speed limiters to decrease fuel usage, and they have pioneered the use of battery powered Auxiliary Powered Units (APUs). The EPA has also awarded NFI the SmartWay Excellence award three times in recognition of its sustainability efforts.
