Ed Underwood, of State Farm, offers tips on the top three types of insurance not required by law that everyone should have.

Franklin, TN (PRWEB) May 04, 2016

"Certain types of insurance are mandatory, such as automobile coverage,” said Ed Underwood, who has over 36 years’ experience as a State Farm Agent. “However, even those that are not required by law are just as important, as they offer peace of mind and financial security, should the unexpected occur.”

To educate consumers about the importance of protecting their future income and savings, while providing for loved ones, Underwood lists the top three insurance plans everyone should consider:

No. 1: Life insurance. “Life insurance replaces income for the family in the event of the policyholder’s demise,” said Underwood. “It can also pay off debt and pay for final expenses, while defraying the cost of a funeral, for example. Equally important, it provides peace of mind.”

No. 2: Long-term care insurance. This type of insurance protects the assets for which a person has worked hard, and prevents one from being a burden to their loved ones by helping them to maintain daily activities and be less dependant on family. It is also insurance that people should seriously consider purchasing now due to the fact that its price continues to rise.

No. 3: Long-term disability insurance. “This insurance is essential for replacing a portion of your income if you become disabled, and provides long-term income security, knowing that the insurance will be available for you and your family” said Underwood.
